"More than a consultation it's an education to your body and health"
Hopefully the explanation below will help illustrate the importance of how we clinically diagnose all our patients using biomechanical assessments. In clinic our Consultant Physiotherapist has many models, posters and diagrams along with a full-length mirror and uses photography to capture your body position. We even welcome you to bring a partner or chaperone so they can see everything and help confirm the findings. It's our promise that the experience will be educational, digestible and at times fun as its important to find out who we are so we can apply management to our present and future health and well-being.
Biomechanics what is it exactly?
Have you ever noticed how the heels on your shoes wear unevenly?
Does your one trouser leg always look slightly longer than the other?
One shoulder higher than the other?
Well, there is a possibility you have a biomechanical issue.
Before we look at this from a technical framework as the Consultant Physiotherapist is both from a mechanical back ground and a teacher, so to help digest the fundamentals of biomechanics he often describes these analogies, as it is much easier to understand as most people relate to these examples
.
We can all understand that the tyres on the car wear however sometimes they can wear on the outer or inner edges more than they should. The driver feels they just need some new tyres however the underlying issue is they need the suspension aligning to prevent this happening again.
Another example is the plaster on the wall keeps cracking.
The plasterer comes out and suggests that the house needs underpinning however the homeowner insists they just want it plastering. 6 months later they call the plasterer claiming this plastering job you have done is no good. When the real truth is the house is subsiding and needs underpinning.
These stories are oddly enough close to 90 % of the underlying issues that present in clinic. Sometimes a precursor in scoliosis and all too often the patients comment that no one has ever done such a thorough examination of them. The standpoint with our Consultant Physiotherapist is that if the examination and testing is done correctly then armed with all the data a true clinical diagnosis can be reached for the patient. Without this level of Initial Assessment, the patients are not going to find success with their treatment, and they will be forever more buying new tyres or using different plasterers.
Don't fall a victim to that scenario and book an Initial Assessment on-line today.
Biomechanics is the study of the movement of the bones, joints and muscles and how they effect your walking, running and static or standing posture. An assessment is carried out by the specialist who specialises in postural aches, pains and injuries and will take a full examination of your limbs, looking at their structure, alignment, strengths, and weaknesses in relation to your presenting symptoms and condition.
Biomechanics is suited to all individuals who want to get to the bottom of any aches and pains, including causal walkers, occupational, age related, sports enthusiasts of all levels as well as elite athletes.
People often attend biomechanical assessments to improve posture or prevent/reduce risk of injury often following a referral from another health professional such as a doctor, orthopaedic surgeon.
Our assessment focuses from the ground up looking at shoe pattern wear indicators, foot position, leg length discrepancy, pelvic girdle structure, through to how this impacts the spinal column and total joint alignment, that impacts shoulder arm and cervical neck position and indeed headaches.
From this in-depth view point we are then able to hone in on the root cause of injury and how this structural integrity can be the root cause impacting joints, soft tissue alignment, restriction, strength and functionality throughout our full range of movement.

A safer alternative to cortisone as HA is used to relubricate the knee joint and re-educate the joint to produce its own natural HA. We us a concentrate dose of Ostend Plus. Injections range from 1-3 every 2-3 weeks in a given 6-9 months. HA does not come with the clinical associated issues of damaging the joints both in their respective articulating surfaces and surouning soft tissues, that is clinically shown to be the case when using traditional cortisone injections.

As a Harley Street of London qualified phlebotomist, a sample of blood ranging generally from 1-6ml is extracted and injected into the site of sift tissue damage for repair. This is a very affordable treatment ideally suited as an example in the chronic treatment of Tennis Elbow.
-
Considered to be the Gold Standard in comparison to an Autologous blood injection. The procedure is initially the same however the blood sample extracted is centrafuged to separate the blood cells from the yellow platelet rich plasma. The PRP is then extracted and injected into the site of the soft tissue damage for repair.

This is the recommended approach to treating inside of a synovial joint. The combination of he PRP and its ability to signal stem cells for repair alongside of the added benefit of HA for joint lubrication, is at present one of the more formidable injection therapies available in joint repair if approached during the early stages, before long term arthritis has taken effect.
